October beauty faves 2021 image

I’m back with my October beauty faves, with 3 makeup products from black-owned brands and 2 amazing skincare products.

I’ve purchased quite a few makeup items recently. Although I try to keep my makeup spending to a minimum due to my large collection – hence my project pan 2021 – if I feel something is missing in my collection, or I desperately want an item, I will purchase it. So this month’s beauty faves contains 3 completely new products in my collection. The skincare products I’ve selected are amazing. They’re products I’ve tested for a while now, so I know that they deliver some serious results.

Keep on reading if you’d like to learn more about my October beauty faves.

1. UOMA Beauty Stay Woke Luminous Brightening Concealer

The UOMA Beauty Stay Woke Luminous Brightening Concealer is one of the best concealers I’ve tried. This lightweight full-coverage concealer effortlessly covers blemishes, spots and dark circles. Although it’s full coverage, it never feels sticky or heavy. It’s completely crease-proof too.

The satin radiance finish is to die for. It makes your skin look glowy and healthy. I also love that the UOMA Beauty concealer is easy to blend and build, meaning no cakiness and seamless coverage. I honestly can’t fault this concealer. People looking to cover up dark spots and blemishes, or brighten their undereye area, will particularly appreciate this product.

Rating: 5 stars

I’m obsessed with it.

2. Fraîcheur Ice globes

If you’re looking to bring the cooling and relaxing salon experience to your home, then you need to check out the Fraîcheur Ice Globes.

These innovative ice globes can be stored in the fridge or freezer. After they’ve got super cold, you roll them across your face in gentle sweeping motions for an icy experience. I love using them on my eyelids, temples, foreheads and cheeks to soothe my skin.

In terms of skin results, the Fraîcheur Ice Globes immediately cool, calm and de-puff the skin. Redness is instantly reduced and the globes make your skin look healthy, smooth and glowy. They’re also very therapeutic and relaxing to use. Rolling the globes across your face gives you that pampering experience you’d get from going to a spa or beauty salon.

I genuinely look forward to using these facial globes every night.

A full review and directions on how to use the globes can be found here.

These globes are so much fun to use.

3. OPV Beauty Translucent Setting Powder

The OPV Beauty Translucent Setting Powder is ideal for helping keep your makeup in place all day. This mattifying loose powder helps to set your makeup and control oil, so that your skin doesn’t look greasy within 2 hours of applying makeup. Although this is a mattifying product, your skin doesn’t look flat, ashy or crepey.

It’s not as finely milled as the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder or the powders in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette, so you do feel this one a bit more on your skin. I also don’t think the OPV Beauty Translucent Setting gives the same soft-focus finish or light-diffusing effect as the Charlotte Tilbury or Hourglass products. However, I still think it’s a great setting powder.

Where to buy

You can purchase the OPV Beauty Translucent Setting Powder from Cult Beauty for £16. This is a great price for a setting powder that truly works without sinking into fine lines.

I like this setting powder, but I’ve still got other ones in my collection that I prefer.

4. Beauty Pie Superactive Capsules Essential Ceramides+

The Beauty Pie Superactive Capsules Essential Ceramides+ are absolutely amazing and totally worth the hype. These handy capsules work by supporting your skin’s natural barrier repair function. The skin’s barrier can become damaged from over-exfoliating, stripping your skin of its natural oils, using harsh cleansers, not wearing SPF every day, using abrasive products, and more.

Beauty Pie’s Superactive Capsules Essential Ceramides+ can help repair the skin’s barrier and give you more nourished, healthier and dewier skin. The capsules have a silky-smooth texture and melt into the skin effortlessly. They make your skin incredibly soft and smooth, and instantly give you added radiance.

I started to have concerns that I might have damaged my skin barrier slightly as sometimes my skin looked red, particularly after cleansing. Since using these capsules, my skin is less red, feels more protected, and all-around feels amazing. I’m very impressed with them.

Where to buy

If you’re a Beauty Pie member, the Superactive Capsules Essential Ceramides+ cost £11.56 for 60 capsules from the website. If you’re not a member, the capsules cost £50. Honestly, if you’re interested in Beauty Pie products, it’s far more cost-effective to become a member. The products from Beauty Pie are awesome, particularly the skincare products, so I’d recommend becoming a member.

These capsules are heavenly.

5. Danessa Myricks Prism FX Hydrating Lotion

Completing my October beauty faves is the Danessa Myricks Prism FX Hydrating Lotion. All of my primers have a matte finish, which were great for my younger and oilier days. But my skin isn’t as oily as it used to be, and I’ve been loving dewier finishes in recent times, so I wanted a glowy primer.

The Danessa Myricks Beauty FX Hydrating Lotion marries together the hydrating benefits of a serum with the finish of an illuminating primer. Combined together you get a radiance-boosting and comfortable primer. I got the shade ‘original’, which has pink undertones. While my skin is warm, the pink undertone doesn’t shine through once you apply your base makeup.

This primer is easy to rub into your skin, despite the thick texture. It does feel a bit heavier on the skin compared to silicone primers, so a little bit goes a long way. I really like how this primer makes my makeup look, as it gives a ‘lit from within’ vibe. The overall effect is a gorgeous and effortless glowy base.

Where to buy

Retailing for £26, you can purchase the Prism FX Hydrating Lotion from Cult Beauty or Danessa Myricks Beauty. I reckon around the £20 mark would be a bit more reasonable for this primer as it’s a pretty small bottle (15ml).

Rating: 4 stars

I like this primer, but it’s not one of my holy grails. It’s also expensive for how little product you get.

Final thoughts on my October beauty faves

I loved putting together my October beauty faves due to a lot of new products in my collection. If I could only recommend one product from this list, it would have to be the UOMA Beauty Stay Woke Luminous Brightening Concealer. It truly is very special. But all of the products in this list are awesome and thoroughly worth trying if you like the sound of them.
