In this blog post, I’m reviewing the new and highly rated Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream and sharing whether it’s worth the hype.

The launch of the cream lip gloss follows the success of the highly coveted original Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb formula. The Gloss Bomb is my favourite lip gloss as it’s non-sticky while making your lips look shiny and juicy. So when I got the new cream gloss for Christmas, I couldn’t wait to compare it to my OG holy grail formula.

But does Fenty Beauty’s latest lip product deserve the high praise it’s receiving? Keep on reading for my honest thoughts, swatches and a makeup look using the cream gloss.

What is Fenty Beauty?

Fenty Beauty is Rihanna’s famous makeup line. Known for being inclusive and delivering bomb products, Fenty Beauty is well-loved worldwide.

The brand made waves in the makeup industry back in 2017 with its impressive foundation range, with 40 shades catering to all skin tones. Since then, makeup brands have been forced to become more inclusive, as it brought to attention the shocking fact that many brands lacked a decent shade range for deeper skin tones.

Rihanna also launched Fenty Skin in July 2020. You can read my thoughts on the Fenty Skin collection here

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream claims

Building on the success of the original Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb, Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream claims to deliver medium to full coverage without shimmer.

Your favourite feel-good, look-great lip gloss, now with medium to full-coverage colour—and zero shimmer.

Fenty Beauty

Fenty Beauty claims that the Gloss Bomb Cream will make your lips look instantly smoother and fuller on application. The gloss promises to be creamy, non-sticky, buildable and nourishing.

There are currently 5 shades that claim to be universally flattering. I’ve got the shade Cookie Jar, which is described as a chocolate caramel.

To give you an indication of the colour and formula of the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream, I’ve swatched it on my arm. As always, swatches shouldn’t be the make or break decision as to whether you purchase a product but they can give you a good indication of its performance.

Here is my Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream Cookie Jar swatch:

As you can see, shiny, pigmented and creamy, without shimmer. The gloss is quite thick as this swatch was done with just one swipe of the gloss’ wand.

My thoughts on the cream lip gloss

Spoiler alert: I love the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream.

Just like the original formula, the lip gloss is non-sticky and glides over my lips effortlessly.

I love the fact that this gloss doesn’t contain shimmer because whilst I love shimmery products, sometimes if you’ve got shimmer on your lids, a non-shimmery lip is exactly what you need.

The lip gloss is surprisingly pigmented. I’ve tried a lot of lip glosses in the past that aren’t pigmented at all. This is fine as sometimes you just want shine but Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream certainly packs colour.

With just one swipe, you get medium coverage effortlessly. If you want more colour and shine, you can just apply more layers. I find that just one layer gives me all the pigment and shine that I need, though. Whilst this cream gloss is buildable, I wouldn’t describe it as full coverage. You’re never going to get that fully opaque look.

I find this lip gloss to be long-wearing too. As it’s more pigmented and thicker than the original Gloss Bomb, I think it lasts longer on the lips. It’s not as long-lasting as full coverage lipsticks but you’re definitely going to have coverage and a glossy sheen after eating and drinking. Not many lip glosses have this power, which is amazing.

Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream also feels buttery and comfortable on the lips. There’s nothing worse than wearing a gloss that feels sticky but Rihanna has truly nailed this formula.

Makeup look using Gloss Bomb Cream Cookie Jar

To show you the chocolate caramel shade Cookie Jar, I created a makeup look using the new Gloss Bomb Cream. Here, you can see the gloss’ shine and pigmentation more clearly.

Guys, I’m obsessed with this shade. It’s rich, warm and a gorgeous chocolate caramel tone. Cookie Jar looks amazing with earthy eyeshadow looks as it complements the warm brown gloss.

I’ve seen a lot of people wear this shade and I think it suits pretty much everyone, so Rihanna did a great job describing this gloss as universally flattering. It looks phenomenal on deeper skin tones. If you’re melanin-rich with warm undertones, this cream gloss is going to pop off. Seriously.

As you can see, the lip gloss is shiny and makes the lips look juicy, while still packing pigment. I’d love to try more of the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Creams, particularly the shade Mauve Wive$ as it has expensive vibes.

I like this cream gloss just as much as the original Gloss Bomb formula. They’re different enough from one another to justify the purchase.

Where to buy

Retailing for £17/$19, you can purchase the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream from Boots, Harvey Nichols or Fenty Beauty.

I think this is a really good price. The gloss is pigmented, so just one swipe is plenty, meaning that it’s going to last you for a long time. Also, the formula is a must-try if you like lip goss.

Final thoughts

Rihanna has once again produced another dope lip gloss formula. Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Cream meets its claims and I’ve fallen in love with it.

The only thing that I wish was different was that I had more of the shades!
