Disclaimer: Bali Body gifted me the products in this post for review purposes, but all thoughts are my own and unbiased

If you’re looking for a new moisturising face or body SPF but hate that horrible sticky feeling, you need to read this review on Bali Body‘s hydrating sunscreen range.

As an oily-skinned girl, I appreciate lightweight, absorbent, and non-greasy SPFs. I particularly love sunscreens that give a bit of glow and hydrate my skin too. But I despise mattifying sunscreens. They make skin look so dull and lifeless. If you have oily skin, you don’t need to pick up mattifying SPFs! You can still find lightweight formulae that don’t make your skin look lacklustre.

So, how well does Bali Body‘s hydrating SPF range work on my oily skin? Did the range make my skin break out, or is it worth purchasing? Keep reading for my honest thoughts.

Review

I love the Bali Body Hydrating Face Sunscreen SPF50+.

Consistency-wise, this hydrating sunscreen is very similar to the popular La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF50 (get 20% off the La Roche-Posay SPF at LookFantastic with my code LFTFBLOGSARAH here). It’s quite runny, incredibly lightweight, and very absorbent. However, the finish is quite different and in a good way!

The La Roche-Posay sunscreen genuinely is undetectable on the skin. It’s on the mattifying side without making your skin look flat. In contrast, the Bali Body Hydrating Face Sunscreen SPF50+ makes my skin feel more hydrated and gives it a subtle glow. It honestly makes my skin look and feel super healthy! And it still manages to be non-greasy and leaves no white cast.

I disagree with Bali Body that this sunscreen is mattifying. I think it contributes to a radiant base, and I’m here for it. But I certainly agree that this SPF plays well under makeup and with other skincare products due to the airy formula. The fact this has a high SPF factor is another major positive.

Rating: 5 stars

This is one of the nicest sunscreens I’ve ever tried!

Review

I want to love the Bali Body Face & Body Sunscreen Spray SPF50+, but I just don’t. And here’s why.

On the positive side, the actual feeling of the SPF is nice. It has a similar feeling to the hydrating facial sunscreen, as it’s invisible, pretty lightweight, and hydrating. There’s no greasiness either.

But where the spray’s biggest selling point should be – convenience – it’s just lacking. The actual mister itself isn’t fine enough, so the product comes out in quite thick blotchy patches. This is annoying, as the formula sort of goes everywhere, and it means you have to blend the product into your skin with your fingertips. It defeats the purpose of a spray SPF!

The formula, while lovely and hydrating, also isn’t that fine. So the spray sunscreen itself is actually thick, meaning you end up with blotches of SPF everywhere. It ends up in your hair, on your eyelashes, on your clothes, etc.

It’s a shame because once the formula’s been blended in, it’s lovely. But the experience leaves a lot to be desired. I prefer using this as a body SPF as it’s a larger surface area, so it doesn’t end up in your hair or on your lashes!

Rating: 3 stars

I’ll keep using this SPF, as the formula feels nice, but just not when I’m in a rush, as it’s pretty messy!

Review

The Bali Body Hydrating Body Sunscreen SPF50+ is super similar to the hydrating face sunscreen but with a slightly thicker formula.

I love this beautiful body SPF for all the reasons that I like the face version. It’s ultra-lightweight and absorbent, feels moisturising and hydrating, there’s no white cast or greasiness, and it gives skin a subtle glow.

While face sunscreens have come a long way over the past decade, body SPFs can still be lacking. Many body sunscreens I’ve tried still take a lot of blending and working into the skin. They’re also prone to feeling sticky. But the Bali Body Hydrating Body Sunscreen SPF50+ works into the skin like a dream very quickly without any tackiness.

I totally agree that this has a touch-dry formula. There’s nothing worse than a body SPF that lingers on the skin. Gross.

Rating: 5 stars

This is probably the best body sunscreen that I’ve tried.

Overall Bali Body hydrating SPF review

I think Bali Body’s hydrating SPF range is fantastic. All of the products factor 50, which is great for that all-essential UV protection. Plus each product in the range is hydrating, softening, lightweight, absorbent, non-greasy, invisible, blendable, and doesn’t make skin look dull or feel dry.

None of the products made my skin break out; they all worked perfectly for my oily skin.

The spray SPF is a bit of a letdown. It’s less of a reflection of the formula and more of the overall design. Ultimately, the spray design is quite flawed, as it leads to a patchy application. That’s definitely not ideal when it comes to sun protection! But, I’m quite happy to finish the bottle and just use my fingertips to rub the formula in.

This is a lovely range, though, and I could see this working for all skin types. I think particularly oily skins may prefer a less nourishing formula, but that’s not to say this is a greasy range at all because it’s genuinely not.

Fave product

It’s got to be the Bali Body Hydrating Face Sunscreen SPF50+ for playing so well underneath makeup!
