You might have seen Glaze cropping up on your social feeds. The brand is supposed to be the secret to healthy, glossy, and super soft hair at home. It claims to be the cheat code to salon-worthy mirror-like shiny hair at home, without a lengthy treatment while delivering lasting results. Glaze is vegan, cruelty-free, and free from sulphates, parabens, ammonia, bleach, and PPD.

My hair is sleek, straight, oily, and in great condition. It’s already quite glossy, as I don’t use heat styling, which means it’s not dull or dried out. But I wanted to see whether Glaze could deliver the exceptional shine and outstanding softness it promises.

In this honest review with before and after photos, I share my thoughts on 2 of Glaze’s hero products: Super Gloss and GlaziPlex.

Glaze Super Gloss review

£16 for 190ml

Glaze Super Gloss image

About Super Gloss

Glaze Super Gloss promises to deliver a mirror-like shine and incredible softness to hair. It also claims to repair damaged hair and revitalise it instantly.

Like a salon service in a bottle, Super Gloss smooths, conditions, repairs the look of damage and adds show-stopping shine.

Glaze

There is a clear gloss option alongside colour-boosting options like Auburn Spice, Sleek Espresso, Bleach Blonde, and Cocoa Lights. I’ve got the clear gloss – Sheer Glow – which is not designed to boost or tint the colour of your hair but instead enhances vibrancy and shine.

You simply shampoo your hair, rinse it out, apply the Super Gloss to damp clean hair for 10 minutes, and rinse it out. The results are supposed to last for up to 10 washes.

Before and after photos

I took some before and after photos to show you if there’s any difference since using the Glaze Super Gloss in Sheer Glow. These photos were taken in natural light.

Disclaimer: It was hard to get the lighting the exact same, as these photos were taken on different days, so the natural light differed a bit.

After applying the gloss, I used a hairdryer on both occasions to replicate the process and ensure a fair test. Here are the results:

My hair is visibly shinier in the after photo. It’s more reflective and glossy. While some of this could be down to lighting, I notice that my hair is glossier overall after using Glaze Super Gloss.

Honest thoughts

I think Glaze Super Gloss is good. It makes my hair noticeably shinier and softer after using it compared to my usual conditioner.

I usually only condition the ends of my hair, as conditioners make my scalp oilier if I apply them to the roots. When I apply Super Gloss all over my hair, it makes my hair oilier than usual but nothing crazy. I thought it would weigh my hair down much more than it did. Instead, it made my hair a bit softer and smoother.

This product definitely makes my hair glossier. I don’t think it’s quite as extraordinary as the brand claims, but my hair admittedly is already pretty shiny, so there probably wouldn’t have been an extreme difference regardless.

Super Gloss made my hair glossier and softer for about 3 washes. However, after the first wash, the effects had significantly worn off. On my hair at least, the effects didn’t last up to 10 washes.

Moving onto the things I’m not so keen on. The bottle design is terrible. It’s very difficult to squeeze the product out because the bottle is firm, so it’s tough to actually get the product out. The gloss itself is thick, so the tiny hole on the cap means it’s hard for the product to squeeze through. I unscrew the top and shake the bottle to get the product out. It’s much easier that way. Ultimately, the bottle needs a redesign.

Also, the gloss is quite difficult to rinse out of your hair. It’s thick and clings to strands, so it takes a while to fully wash the product out of your hair. You could easily end up leaving product in your hair if you don’t rinse it thoroughly.

Glaze GlaziPlex review

£20 for 120ml

Glaze GlaziPlex image

About GlaziPlex

Glaze GlaziPlex promises to be a 4-in-1 hair treatment that repairs damage and delivers shine. It claims to repair all 4 types of damage from heat, colour, chemical treatments, and styling for strong and shiny hair.

Our gloss-giving, clinically proven formula repairs, strengthens, and protects for hair so strong and shiny, it looks like new.

Glaze

You simply shampoo your hair, rinse it out, apply the GlaziPlex to damp clean hair for 4 minutes, and rinse it out. You can leave the product in for 10 minutes for extra shine and sleekness. Use weekly or as needed for immediate repair, Glaze says.

Before and after photos

I took some before and after photos to show you if there’s any difference since using the Glaze GlaziPlex. These photos were taken in natural light.

Disclaimer: It was hard to get the lighting the exact same, as these photos were taken on different days, so the natural light differed a bit.

After applying the treatment, I used a hairdryer on both occasions to replicate the process and ensure a fair test. Here are the results:

One of the most noticeable differences from the before and after photos is that my hair colour looks richer and more vibrant. This is not only something I can see after using GlaziPlex, but other people have commented that my hair colour looks different and nice. In fact, people keep asking me if I’ve dyed my hair recently since using the product.

Honest thoughts

Glaze GlaziPlex is fantastic. While this doesn’t deliver quite as much shine as Super Gloss, it still makes my hair glossy. But this also makes my hair softer, more vibrant, richer in colour, and feel healthier.

Since using GlaziPlex, I’ve had a lot of compliments on my hair. People keep asking whether I’ve dyed my hair, but it’s actually just the product making my hair more luminous and vivid.

This also delivers more powerful effects than Super Gloss for longer. Even after 3-4 washes, I can tell that GlaziPlex is still delivering results.

This squeezy tube design is actually usable too. It’s easy to squeeze the product out of the tube, without it hurting your hands or being difficult to get the product out.

GlaziPlex makes my hair a little oilier than usual, as I apply it from my roots to the ends. But it doesn’t make my hair feel as greasy as Super Gloss. It also rinses out more easily.

I love GlaziPlex. It meets all its claims and leaves my hair looking and feeling in excellent condition.

Is Glaze worth it?

Glaze hair products are worth it. Both Super Gloss and GlaziPlex instantly make my hair softer, shinier, and sleeker.

I wasn’t blown away by Super Gloss, but GlaziPlex definitely exceeded my expectations. It makes a noticeable difference to my hair’s vibrancy and health while giving it a lovely glossy finish. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting salon-worthy sleek, shiny, and healthy hair.
