Protein powders are a quick, simple, and convenient way to add extra protein to your diet. Protein helps us stay full for longer and builds and repairs muscles, making it an important staple in every diet – not just for athletes and gym fanatics!

However, not all protein powders are made equal, and some are packed with sugars and other additives that make them less beneficial. Plus, some don’t mix well, which makes them less appealing and versatile.

I’ve put the Naked Nutrition Chocolate Whey Protein Powder to the test to see how it tastes, how well it mixes, the full ingredients, and whether it’s worth buying.

A closer look

The Naked Nutrition Chocolate Whey Protein Powder is a chocolate-flavoured whey protein powder made with 3 ingredients: whey protein concentrate from milk, coconut sugar, and cacao powder. The whey comes from grass-fed cows raised on small, non-GMO dairy farms, according to Naked Nutrition.

Each 38g serving contains 25g of protein, 160 calories, 8g of carbohydrates, 5g of sugar, and 3.2g of fat, including 1.5g of saturated fat. The protein powder contains no artificial sweeteners, flavours, or colours.

The 2280g tub contains 60 servings and costs £79.99 as a one-off purchase, working out at around £1.33 per serving. Alternatively, you can choose a subscription for £63.99, bringing the cost down to around £1.07 per serving.

My experience with the Naked Nutrition Chocolate Whey Protein

This is one of the best-tasting protein powders I’ve tried. It has a distinct chocolate flavour, which is sweet without being sickly, and it doesn’t have that awful protein powder taste that is common in other powders. Instead of tasting like bitter chemicals, Naked Nutrition’s formula just tastes like delicious chocolate.

The texture is fantastic too, as it’s very fine, so it can be easily incorporated into different recipes. For example, you can easily add a scoop of the Naked Nutrition Chocolate Whey Protein Powder to your overnight oats without it being gritty, gloopy, or clumpy.

This fine, smooth texture makes it very versatile. You can mix it with water or milk for a quick drink, blend into smoothies, bake into cakes or brownies, use in overnight oats, or add to yoghurt for a protein boost.

I’ve never enjoyed adding protein powders to just water/milk and always consume them in either a smoothie or overnight oats. This prevents any grittiness or clumps from simply mixing with a liquid, which I find hugely off-putting.

This protein powder makes any recipe I use more filling. It helps me stay fuller for longer, so I’m not craving my lunch by 11am.

Although the enormous tub doesn’t come with its own scoop, the tub has a big opening at the top so you can easily scoop out your protein with a spoon. Just be careful, as the powder is quite fine so it can be a bit messy if you scoop it out haphazardly. I simply weigh out 38g, so I know I’m getting the correct serving size.

This huge tub is going to last me for months, as I don’t use protein powder every day, so I know 60 servings will keep me going well into 2027.

Putting it to the test: Overnight oats and post-workout shake

I wanted to put the chocolate protein powder to the test by actually using it in recipes I’d normally do. I tried it in MOB’s Chocolate & Raspberry Protein Overnight Oats, which I love and have used many times, as well as my own homemade Peanut Butter, Banana & Chocolate Protein Smoothie. The recipes and details are listed below.

Chocolate & Raspberry Protein Overnight Oats

For 1 serving:

Ingredients

Method

  1. Combine the oats, protein powder, cocoa powder, chia seeds, almond milk, yoghurt, and ½ tsp honey in a bowl. Put a lid on and store in the fridge for at least 3 hours, but ideally overnight.
  2. When ready to eat, remove from the fridge and top with the remaining ½ tsp honey, fresh raspberries, and the square of shaved/chopped dark chocolate.

This recipe made the Naked Nutrition chocolate protein powder stand out. Compared to the other times I’ve made this recipe with a different chocolate whey protein powder, the consistency was smoother, less gloopy, and wetter. Naked Nutrition’s formula improved the texture of the oats as well as giving it a richer and stronger chocolate flavour.

Peanut Butter, Banana & Chocolate Protein Smoothie

For 1 serving:

Ingredients

Method

  1. Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy.

I’m a massive fan of this recipe. The chocolate flavour was prominent, thanks to the protein powder, but complemented so well by the banana, peanut butter, and Biscoff. Obviously, Biscoff is not healthy, so it’s totally optional, but a small amount just elevates this smoothie into a sweet drink that still gives nutritional benefits.

Is Naked Nutrition Chocolate Whey Protein worth buying?

The Naked Nutrition Chocolate Whey Protein Powder is a great choice for anyone looking for a delicious protein powder that tastes great, keeps you full and satisfied for longer, and helps repair and build your muscles.

At £79.99 for a one-time purchase, this is undeniably an investment. However, you get a giant tub with 60 servings, so it will last for ages, and the texture and flavour are superior to many other chocolate protein powders on the market.

Rating: 5 stars

If you’re looking to increase your protein intake, speed up the recovery and muscle growth process after workouts, or simply want to stay fuller for longer from your everyday recipes, I’d highly recommend Naked Nutrition’s protein powder.
