I love houseplants. They add vibrancy and a cosy feel to any home. Many can even help improve air quality and add freshness to your living space. They help make a house feel like a home.

However, I’ve become a bit notorious for not looking after plants very well. If they’re fussy, forget it. They won’t last. I want an easy-to-maintain plant that will bounce back if I’ve not checked in on it for a while – *cough cough* weeks.

I’ve owned quite a lot of houseplants now, and I have 4 that are completely unkillable. They’re robust, bounce back quickly if I’ve forgotten to water them, and won’t die if I haven’t given them the right amount of light.

If you’re a beginner just starting in the world of houseplants or want a completely non-fussy plant that can survive in just about any setting, this is the post for you.

1. Peace lily

My number 1 most resilient plant is a peace lily. I’ve had this plant for years, and it’s seen some rough times. I went weeks without watering it by mistake, and it went all droopy and sad. To be honest, it looked dead.

But it bounced back overnight. The following day, the peace lily was standing tall and looked very healthy.

Although peace lilies prefer bright indirect light, they work in shadier spots too. You won’t destroy the plant if you forget to water it, even though the soil should be kept moist, and it can survive in different levels of light.

My peace lily will always be my fave houseplant. It looks great, grows easily, and is super robust. I also love how full and bushy this plant looks. Mine doesn’t flower very frequently, but it’s so pretty when it does!

2. Dracaena fragrans

Another unkillable houseplant is the draceana fragrans. I’ve never so much as even see this plant look like it’s struggling. It can handle overwatering and underwatering and works in different levels of light.

While this plant thrives in bright indirect sunlight, it can work in shadier spots. It should be watered when the top 2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch.

I love the vibrant green leaves, fan shape, and cute bumblebee plant pot. This plant is probably the easiest plant to care for in this post, as it seems to handle anything – even an at-times-unattentive owner like me!

3. Parlour palm

The most recent addition to my houseplant collection is this beautiful parlour palm. My first and only floor plant, this tall palm plant is so pretty. The long stems and feathery leaves are so striking and stand out against almost any background.

It’s another plant that likes bright indirect sunlight. Just like the draceana fragrans, it should be watered when the top 2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch.

It’s a low-maintenance plant that won’t throw a strop if you’ve not watered it for a while and can be easily positioned to a bright, indirect light spot in your home.

4. Spider plant

One of my most commented-on plants is the spider plant. This plant often turns heads, with people saying how much they like it. It has a unique spiky appearance and two-toned foliage, which are very pretty.

Again, the spider plant likes bright indirect sunlight and should be watered when the top 2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch.

I accidentally put this in a spot that had too much direct light and the leaves started to go yellow, with the plant looking droopy overall. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to revive it. However, after I moved it to more indirect light, it bounced back almost immediately. So beginners don’t need to worry about getting the care spot on, as it won’t die on you while you’re learning to care for it!

But looks can be deceiving, and I wanted to know if the chest of drawers is as high-quality and robust as it is good-looking.

Which chest of drawers I chose

I picked the Homary 8 Drawer Modern White Double Dresser. This chest of drawers is visually attractive, has loads of different storage sections, and even offers a flip-up mirror. There are 6 smaller drawers, 2 large drawers, and 4 pretty large storage shelves.

I picked white, as I know this colour can fit in with most rooms. Plus, I tend to like white furniture, as I think it looks modern. I also picked it as it’s large, so I knew it would store all of my makeup easily. The surface on top could also be used to house objects like plants, makeup organisers, or a table lamp.

Honest Homary chest of drawers review

Below, I’m going to detail my honest thoughts on the Homary chest of drawers, including all the important parts like how hard is it to assemble, are the instructions easy to follow, is it flimsy, and are any parts janky?

Delivery time

I’m not going to lie, the delivery took ages. I’m talking 6 months. Now, I know larger pieces of furniture can take a while to be delivered, but 6 months seems like a particularly long time. This is something to be mindful of when ordering from Homary, as you’re not going to get quick delivery on a fair few items.

Thankfully, not all of the products on Homary.com have such a long delivery time. There’s a 48-hour dispatch section, where you can be assured that your product will come much sooner than 6 months.

In the case of my chest of drawers, it was waiting for the item to be dispatched that took months. Once the item had been dispatched, it came in a matter of weeks. It takes a while for items to get delivered in the UK, as many of the products come from abroad.

A big win is that shipping on all orders, including international orders, is free.

Unboxing

The chest of drawers came packaged and protected very well. Almost too well. It felt like I was unboxing the furniture for ages. The drawers came split between 2 large and pretty heavy boxes. However, there were no breaks or damage to the furniture, so I have no complaints.

Instructions

The chest of drawers didn’t come with any instructions, nor did it provide a way for us to find the instructions online. It was a bit frustrating, because we unboxed everything before realising there were no instructions.

Finding the instruction manual online was straightforward enough. It can be found on the Homary 8 Drawer Modern White Double Dresser page under the heading ‘specifications’, where you can download the installation guide. However, for people who aren’t tech-savvy or don’t have access to the internet, this isn’t helpful at all.

At the very least, there should be a note mentioning where to find the instruction manual. Providing a straightforward instruction manual would be preferable.

Assembly time and ease

I’m going to be honest and say that the assembly of this chest of drawers wasn’t easy, and there were a fair few mistakes. Overall, the assembly time was about 6 hours, which is quite a long time.

First of all, the instructions aren’t that easy to follow. Some of the parts were mislabeled, and while a lot of the diagrams are decent, me and my boyfriend ended up having to do a bit of trial and error to figure certain components out.

One of the biggest issues we found is that there weren’t clear markers for where to put particular screws in particular places. While we had a rough idea of where parts should go in the instruction manual, precision was seldom present, as there were no guidelines on the parts themselves as to where exactly to screw certain components in.

The worst part was doing the hinge for each drawer. The drawers aren’t on a runner mechanism, and we ended up having to screw the hinge both into the chest of drawers itself and onto each drawer. Without any markers, this was super tedious; meant there were a lot of mistakes, because it’s supposed to be precise and we had no guidelines; had to measure and remeasure everything ourselves when positioning was inevitably incorrect or just slightly off by a millimetre; and simply felt unnecessary.

In terms of how easy it was to put this chest of drawers together, it was a lengthy and sometimes fairly complex process. While the essence of putting the chest together wasn’t complex, the difficult-to-read instructions and lack of guidelines left a lot of guesswork and avoidable mistakes.

It’s doable, but it’s not the easiest of processes.

Quality

Despite the challenging assembly, the quality of the components is great. The furniture is sturdy, weighty, and looks fantastic. This isn’t cheap furniture, and it shows. Often, a good marker of well-made furniture is how heavy it is – i.e. not easy to break – and this chest of drawers is certainly heavy.

Overall look and usability

The Homary 8 Drawer Modern White Double Dresser looks fab. It’s a contemporary design that has a lot of different storage sections, meaning I can separate my makeup by item, so it’s easy to sort.

In the future, I’d love to put some ornaments or faux plants on the 4 shelves for a more aesthetically pleasing vibe. Plus, I’m strongly considering getting a transparent lipstick holder to place on top of the chest of drawers. Imagine how good it would look on the Gram.

I simply grab a chair, flip up the mirror, and start applying the makeup. The mirror is deceptively big, which means I can easily see my entire face when applying makeup. It also means enough light gets to the mirror for #lightinggoals. Nobody wants a small mirror where you’re constantly having to get the right lighting angle for seamless application.

I actually couldn’t be happier with the look and usability of this chest of drawers.

Affordability

This chest of drawers costs $499.99/£519.99. Although this is pricey if you compare it to furniture from places like IKEA or Wayfair, it’s very much in line with the quality and prices from places like Next and John Lewis.

High-quality furniture is expensive, and you get what you pay for. I definitely think this chest of drawers is worth the price, and there are way more expensive chests on the market.

The Baloo Living Weighted Blanket comes in 4 sizes to fit your bed perfectly: single, double, king, or super king size.

There are 2 different weight options: a standard weight size and a heavier option. The lightest weight is 5.4kg and the heaviest weight is 11.3kg.

The blanket can be washed in a washing machine and dried in a tumble drier. Baloo Living recommends using a low heat for both machines.

Each weighted blanket is made from 100% cotton and contains glass microbeads for the weighted filling.

Below, I’m going to review the Baloo Living Weighted Blanket and honestly discuss some of the blanket’s key features.

Breathable and comfortable fabric

One of my favourite things about the Baloo Living Weighted Blanket is how soft and cosy it is. The fabric is super comfortable and feels like a warm hug at night.

But my favourite thing about the blanket is that it’s breathable. During these colder months, it helps to keep me warm as it’s very soft and moulds to the contours of your body. However, it doesn’t trap heat at all. My temperature feels fantastic at night, which I absolutely love.

I’ve not tried the Baloo Living Weighted Blanket during the summer, admittedly, but I think it’ll do a great job of keeping me cool. Except for if we have another 38-degree heatwave. In that instance, I want no sort of cover on at all!

Sleeping experience

And now onto one of the most important points: Has the Baloo Living Weighted Blanket improved my sleeping experience?

I can honestly say it has!

I find the feeling of the weighted blanket, and the fact it feels like a hug, very calming. It’s odd that it gives a soothing sensation, but I truly love how it feels. Whether it’s a placebo effect or whether it truly works, either way, it’s helped me fee less anxious at bedtime. I’m not worrying whether I’ll finally be able to drop off. I go to bed knowing I’ll get a good night’s sleep!

Easy to care for

I was worried that the Baloo Living Weighted Blanket would be quite easy to ruin in the washing machine or tumble dryer. Despite the brand saying that this blanket is safe to use in both appliances, I know it can be easy to ruin certain fabrics, so I didn’t want it to become deformed or lose its softness.

To my surprise, it washed and dried like a dream. I washed it using low heat and dried it on a delicate setting, and it worked perfectly. It’s as good as new! Also, it dried surprisingly quickly. Way faster than a duvet cover. I guess as the blanket is filled with glass microbeads, it doesn’t absorb as much moisture.

So I’m very happy that the blanket is easy to care for.

Minimalistic aesthetic

I’m also a big fan of the simple yet classic Baloo Living Weighted Blanket aesthetic. It just works in any bedroom and with any décor because it’s minimal and non-fussy. Who doesn’t love crisp white bedding?

One of my only criticisms is that the weighted blanket only comes in white or clay. An expanded colour range would be great for those looking to match their blanket to their room. I’d love to see grey, light blue, or pink options in the future!

Value for money

How do nebulising diffusers work?

Organic Aromas Aurora Nebulizing Diffuser claims

The Organic Aromas Aurora Nebulizing Diffuser promises to be made with vibrant ribbed glass, a sturdy ceramic base and is available in both black and white. This diffuser claims to create spectacular light illusions from various angles, emitting wonderful rainbow colours.

As an ornament, the Aurora is specifically crafted for that ultimate visual appeal. The beautifully textured glass and the smooth ceramic curves make Aurora a statement piece for your living room, kitchen, bedroom, office, guest room, spa and more. 

Organic Aromas

A flexible touch sensor light control changes the brightness from 100% to 50% to 30% and then off. The essential oil diffuser has a usage cycle of 2 mins on and 2 mins off for a duration of 2 hours, at which time the diffuser automatically shuts off.

Honest Organic Aromas review

Firstly, I absolutely love the design of the Aurora Nebulizing Diffuser. It’s sleek, elegant, modern and would fit in with many interiors. I’m personally not a fan of the wooden diffusers. I think they’d take more styling in terms of fitting them in around your home. However, the black base and glass diffuser would fit in with so many styles.

I’m obsessed with the rainbow colours on the glass. It’s so pretty when the bright light is on and just adds to the whole soothing ambiance. I love turning it on in the evening when I’m doing some blog work as it’s just a total vibe.

You simply drop some of the essential oil into the glass diffuser, put the cap on, and voila, you’re done. You can also mix your essential oils to create a custom scent. It’s awesome. This is what I do.

Out of the 3 scents I got, the Signature Blend is hands down my favourite. It’s quite sweet, musky and still complex. You can’t pinpoint the blend of fragrances coming through either, so it’s very unique.

The Celebration Blend is my second favourite scent. It’s not as sweet as I thought it would be and has a more herbal and aromatic scent. I like mixing the Celebration Blend with the Signature Blend for a sweet and slightly spiced, earthy home fragrance.

Butterflies Breath Blend is my least favourite scent. It’s more bitter than what I’d usually opt for, and I don’t find it as relaxing or uplifting as the other 2 scents. I tend to mix this with the Signature Blend for a sweeter blend.

The Organic Aromas Aurora Nebulizing Diffuser is fantastic. It works so fast. As soon as you switch on the diffuser, a powerful fragrance almost instantly fills the room. It’s so much quicker than using a scented candle or wax warmer.

A very fine mist is diffused. It’s not heavy, and the diffuser isn’t loud. In fact, it performs better than I thought it would.

Overall, I’m impressed with my Organic Aromas experience. The nebulising diffuser is well crafted and looks absolutely stunning. Like a gorgeous ornament. There’s a good mix of essential oils to choose from too, whether single blends or intriguing mixed blends.

On a personal level, I wish there were some more sweet essential oils. And I mean sweet – without some sort of herbal note.

I think this is a reasonable price. The nebulising diffuser is very well crafted, and the scents last for a while. Plus, your home is going to look and smell amazing, and your mood is going to be lifted. What more could you want?

My personal experience with TilePix.com (and why I’m love with my personalized photo gallery memory wall)

First, the ordering process is uber simple. After uploading my photos to TilePix.com, I chose my configuration options (black frame, picture filled to the border, images in color, and no image split), and checked out in just a few minutes. The website is easy to navigate, and there are some helpful videos if you want to learn more about TilePix.

I couldn’t wait to build my memory wall with my brand new TilePix once they’d arrived! My photo tiles came neatly packaged, with no scratches, breaks or chips. All of the packaging is recyclable too, which is a big bonus!

Before I hung my photo tiles, I wiped down my walls with a clean, damp cloth, as instructed. I let the walls dry naturally, which took about 2 hours. This is to ensure the pads stick securely to your walls.

After unboxing my TilePix, I took out the magnetic wall pads. One side is magnetic, and the other side has a peel-and-stick system. I peeled the backing off to reveal the sticky layer and pressed this onto the wall for 30 seconds. Then, I simply pressed my photo tile to the pad.
