As 2025 is over, I’m sharing some of the best hair, skincare, body, fragrance, and makeup products from the year.

These are the products that I’m reaching for the most. They improve the look and feel of my skin, add lots of volume and body to my hair, facilitate gorgeous makeup looks, and ensure I smell incredible all day long. I had a hard time narrowing down this list to my faves, as I tried loads of excellent products in 2025, but here are my beauty must-haves.

With notes of vanilla, jasmine, cassis accord, and rhum accord, this perfume is sweet, slightly floral, and romantic. It’s elegant and is the type of perfume you can wear for any occasion, as it’s not overpowering. This perfume lasts all day without fading. I’m obsessed.

The Victoria Beckham Beauty Lid Lustre is one of my favourite shimmery single eyeshadows. They’re creamy, insanely pigmented, easy to blend, and come in a beautiful range of shades. You can pack on intense colour to your eyelids by using your fingertips, or use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to diffuse the colour for a softer shimmery look. From golden olive and warm rose gold to navy blue and silver chrome, the shades look expensive. These are perfect ‘one and done’ shadows that deliver incredible results every time. I frequently reach for them.

It adds moisture, hydration, and dewiness to my skin instantly, without making my skin oily. The Sculpted by Aimee LashLift has quickly become one of my fave mascaras. It adds effortless length and lift to my lashes without looking clumpy or flaking. It’s pretty smudge-proof, too. I love that the formula is lightweight, separates lashes, and delivers length with just 1 coat. I’ve got this mascara in Ultra-Black and Rich Brown, and both shades are stunning.

The Wavytalk Blowout Boost (25% off with Sarah25) is my first foray into thermal brushes, and I wish I’d tried it sooner. This heated brush allows you to easily get a ’90s blowout hairstyle, add volume to your hair, or get smooth waves. It heats up quickly and allows you to get salon-worthy results at home. Obsessed.

The Rhode Pocket Blush is a beautiful and versatile formula. Whether you apply the blush directly to your cheeks and lips, use a brush, or use your fingertips, it will blend easily and never look overdone. I find this blush works best when warmed on the back of my hand, and then using a brush to pick up the product from my hand and diffuse across my cheeks. This blush has a soft matte, skin-like finish that gives skin a natural flush of colour. The shade range is gorgeous. Sleepy Girl (a soft mauve) and Toasted Teddy (a bronze terracotta) are my go-to shades.

The Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Cleanser Daily Foaming Wash (20% off at LookFantastic with LFTFBLOGSARAH) is fantastic. This cleanser makes my skin feel clean, fresh, hydrated, and smooth after use. As the exfoliation comes in a cleanser form, this is more tolerable for sensitive skin, as the formula is washed off your skin, which makes it great for those looking to introduce an exfoliator into their skincare routine without damaging their skin’s barrier. This cleanser foams easily, so a little bit of product goes a long way. My complexion looks brighter and more even after using this cleanser.

The Lancôme Rénergie H.C.F Triple Serum is an expensive and innovative serum that’s worth the money. It contains skin-loving ingredients like ferulic acid, vitamin C, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid to smooth, brighten, and moisturise the skin. It’s also designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Since using this serum, my skin looks more radiant and feels firmer.

The Lancôme Rénergie H.P.N. UVMUNE SPF50 Cream is one of my fave moisturisers in recent years. It’s rich, luxurious, and thick. Yet, despite being ultra-nourishing, it never feels heavy or greasy. Instead, it melts into the skin easily and provides long-lasting hydration. Some moisturisers containing SPF feel like they never absorb into the skin and just sit on top in a heavy, clogging way. This one smooths into the skin like a breeze, thanks to the plumping peptide complex.

The ONE/SIZE On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray is perfect for locking makeup into place. If I’m wearing makeup for over 6 hours or want my base to stay perfectly in place, this setting spray is my go-to. It means my makeup won’t budge and will look fresh all day. I love how fine the mister is on this setting spray, as it ensures even distribution of the product across my face.

The Kiehl’s Ultra Body Mega Moisture Squalane Cream balances being lightweight and absorbent, alongside delivering long-lasting nourishment. After using this on my feet, which can get quite dry and cracked after swimming, this helps repair any soreness and soothe dryness for soft, supple skin.

The Jones Road Gel Liner is creamy, which means it doesn’t drag across the eyelids on application or feel drying. It glides on seamlessly and doesn’t budge once applied. The gel liner foolproof to use, as you can achieve smooth, precise lines, without it wobbling or smudging. I’ve got the shade Navy, which adds a subtle touch of colour to eye makeup for a sophisticated look.

The Kayali Lovefest Burning Cherry | 48 (15% off at Sephora with SARAHSSPH) has quickly become one of my fave gourmand scents. This cherry fragrance has an elevated and complex fragrance profile, with notes like caramelised praline, patchouli, palo santo, and guaiac wood. On paper, I wouldn’t opt for this perfume, as I don’t tend to like woody fragrances, but this one smells balanced, sophisticated, and not overpowering. I love it.

The Skinfood Rice Brightening Pad (money off YesStyle with CONFIDENCE10) is a toner pad that’s worth investing in. These sumptuous toner pads make skin hydrated, look glowy, and feel refreshed. Rice pore complex helps restore elasticity and tighten the skin, PHA gently exfoliates the skin, and niacinamide helps brighten the complexion and reduce the appearance of enlarged pores. After using these toner pads, my skin instantly looks and feels better.

The By Beauty Bay Desert Haze 20 Colour Palette is a colour story that instantly stood out to me, with fiery coppers and golds, royal blue, earthy khakis and browns, stunning rose golds, and soft beige sandy tones. Although this palette is cheap, the shadows feel expensive. The mattes are soft and buttery with minimal fallout, while the shimmers are fiercly pigmented and deliver a range of shimmer intensities to create a diverse range of looks. I reach for this palette quite regularly at the moment.

The MAC Lustreglass Lipstick in Alone Time is a unique cool-toned lipstick. I don’t always suit cool-toned lipsticks, as they can wash me out and appear greyish on my complexion, but Alone Time is wearable. It’s a pretty mauve brown that will work with just about any neutral or cool-toned makeup look. The formula is smoothing, flattering, sheer, and buildable. It makes lips look glossy and keeps them hydrated. 

The Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Probiotics Barrier Essence (20% off at LookFantastic with LFTFBLOGSARAH) is another excellent milky toner. This formula is richer and more nourishing than the Laneige one in this best beauty products of 2025 list, which makes it ideal for drier skin or in colder weather. The toner is ultra-hydrating and seals in moisture all day. It also makes my skin look radiant, feel soft and smooth, and removes the need for a thick moisturiser.

The Haus Labs Color Fuse Longwear Glassy Lip + Cheek Stick is perfect for when I want a glossy cheek look. This gorgeous formula blends effortlessly. Whether I’m after a saturated pop of glassy colour or a more subtle flush of colour, this stick blush will work. It removes the need for a highlighter, as it provides a glowy non-shimmery finish, which is flattering and never clings to skin texture. The shade range is phenomenal, offering pretty lilacs, berries, nude browns, peaches, and soft pinks. This is one of my fave blushes of all time.

The TYMO CurlGo is a great styling tool for soft, bouncy curls or silky waves. Although I wish the curls lasted longer, I love the results: elegant, classy curls with minimal effort. The curler does all of the hard work for you, as the barrel auto-rotates your hair in the wand. Once you get the hang of using the device, the CurlGo truly is easy to use.

The Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh Rice + B5 SPF50+ (20% off at LookFantastic with LFTFBLOGSARAH) is one of the best sunscreens I’ve ever tried. No white cast, no sticky feeling, and it absorbs instantly. It’s lightweight, hydrating, and refreshing. It layers over skincare products without pilling and sits underneath makeup without disturbing it. This SPF50 also has a cooling sensation on application, so it’s refreshing to use on a hot day. I’d repurchase this in an instant.

How to use the Wavytalk Cool Curl

The Wavytalk Cool Curl is straightforward to use, whether you want to straighten, curl, or wave your hair. Just follow the corresponding steps below!

To straighten hair, put a section of your hair between the two clamps as close to the roots as possible and glide down your hair slowly at a horizontal angle.

To curl hair, put a section of your hair between the two clamps as close to the roots as possible and then twist outwards until your hair is wrapped around the curler. Slowly glide the device horizontally down the length of your hair. If you twist the curler while gliding down, you will get a deeper curl. The longer you hold the device/the more you twist the device, the tighter the curl. For a wavy effect, don’t hold the device for as long or twist it.

Before and after using the Cool Curl

I took a before-and-after photo for the Wavytalk Cool Curl. I’ve got very straight, sleek, and fine hair naturally. In the before photo, this is my hair after I’ve blow-dried it and used some volumising mousse, which is my normal hair care routine. No hair styling tool has been used.

As you can see above, my hair looks curly, more voluminous, and fuller in the after photo. In my review below, I’ll share whether achieving this result was as simple as promised.

Honest review

I’m thoroughly impressed with the Wavytalk Cool Curl.

Beyond the device looking pretty and feminine, the device has some standout features. The outside of the device doesn’t get particularly hot and just stays warm, so you won’t burn yourself. This means you can easily style your hair without the worry of scalding yourself. It’s also lightweight, so you won’t get arm ache when using the device.

I used the hottest temperature setting – 220°C – without a heat protectant spray, as Wavytalk claims the device delivers minimal heat damage. This is a fair claim. The device didn’t damage my hair at all and created smooth curls. I could’ve gotten away with using a lower temperature setting, but I often use the hottest setting, as my hair doesn’t always take to curls well, so more heat means a longer-lasting curl.

As a downside, the Cool Curl is pretty noisy. This is due to the cool air-flow technology, which helps keep the curls in place while you’re styling your hair and prevents damage. It’s nothing too crazy, but it’s something to be mindful of if you want to use it in a quiet environment. It didn’t bother me.

Getting the curls in my before-and-after photos was as effortless as promised. It took me around 10 minutes to get the hang of how to use the device. Once I learned how to do it, curling my hair was a breeze. Overall, it took me around half an hour to curl my hair. But I could get this time down to 15 minutes now I’ve got the hang of using the device.

The device glides down your locks easily with no friction or heat damage, leaves hair looking shiny and healthy, and creates wonderful, customisable curls. I held the device in my hair a little longer for a deeper curl, but it’d be so easy to create waves with this device if you wanted to.

While my curls did drop after about 4 hours, there was still a noticeable wave in my hair a good 24 hours later. For my hair, this is impressive!

The Wavytalk Blowout Boost is a versatile styling tool. You can use it to straighten your strands, add some volume at the roots, flick out the ends, or create soft, bouncy waves.

Always use this thermal brush on dry hair; it’s not designed for use on damp hair.

Follow these easy steps to style your hair effortlessly:

1. Before styling, spritz your hair with a heat protectant spray to avoid any damage.
2. Select the appropriate temperature. Press and hold the power button to turn on the device. Cycle through the 5 temperature settings by pressing the power button repeatedly:
   • 150 °C – Ideal for fine or damaged hair
   • 165 °C – Suitable for normal or slightly thick hair
   • 180 °C – Best for thick or coarse hair
   • 200 °C – For very thick or unruly hair
   • 215 °C – Maximum heat for ultra-resistant hair
3. Use the included sectioning clips to divide your hair into manageable sections. This ensures even styling.
4. Begin styling.
   • For straight styles: Starting at the roots, place a small section of hair between the bristles. Slowly glide the brush down the length of your hair to smooth and straighten.
   • For voluminous styles: Wrap a small section of hair vertically around the brush, starting from the roots. Twist and glide the brush down to the ends to add volume and body.
   • For curls or waves: Wrap a section of hair around the brush, hold briefly, then release for soft curls or waves.
5. Once all sections are styled, use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to gently separate curls or waves for a natural look. Apply a light hairspray if desired to set your style.

Honest review

The Wavytalk Blowout Boost is an excellent styling tool that’s versatile, affordable, and surprisingly easy to use.

This thermal brush is the lightest heated styling tool I’ve ever used, which makes styling hair so easy, as you don’t get armache from holding the device! The sleek pink design is also cute, and the outer parts of the device don’t get super hot, so it minimises the risk of burning yourself.

I found the device very easy to use. I’ve used it twice. The first time was to add volume throughout my hair and flick out the ends for a chic look, and the second time was simply to straighten my hair and add volume throughout. Both times, after a little practice to get the movement of the brush right, I got the hang of it quickly.

Here’s how my hair turned out when I flicked the ends out:

I love how my hair turned out! I got a lot of volume into the roots, which made my hair look thicker, fuller, and like it had more body. Most importantly, my hair stayed voluminous all day. Normally, my hair drops within 3 hours of styling it. After using the Wavytalk Blowout Boost, my hair lasted all evening – around 6 hours – and even had volume the next day. So impressed!

It’s important that you use a heat protectant spray when using the Blowout Boost, though, as the bristles get quite hot, so they could damage your hair if you’re not careful.

The only downside to this thermal brush is that hair can get tangled or caught on the bristles. Thankfully, it’s easy to untangle any hair that gets caught in between the bristles by simply unwinding the device in the opposite direction to how you styled your strands or gently pulling your hair out of the bristles. However, I’d recommend using a smoothing or de-frizzing hair product prior to using the device, especially if your hair is prone to tangling easily. This helps avoid the issue altogether.

This thermal brush is totally worth the hype and money. It’s affordable and versatile, and I can see this tool becoming a staple in my daily haircare routine.

Why I love it

This conditioner is perfect for my oily scalp and fine hair as it’s hydrating without weighing my hair down or making it feel greasy. I notice my hair is significantly less tangly after using this conditioner, and it gives my hair wonderful shine.

Like the shampoo, this adds no volume or fullness to my hair. However, it works to keep my hair and scalp in excellent condition. It rinses out easily with no excess oil.

SOS Cleanse

The SOS Cleanse is a gentle and lightweight daily cleanser that’s designed for all skin types. This vegan and cruelty-free formula works to dissolve makeup; easily remove skincare products, dirt, and grease; and leave skin clean, fresh, and soothed. It has a soft gel texture that massages over skin easily, rinses off effortlessly with no residue, and leaves skin soft and hydrated.

The cleanser features:

• Propanediol: to make skin dewy
• Glycerin: to hydrate
• Grapesed oil: to soften and soothe skin
• Blue daisy extract: soothes skin with strong antioxidant properties

It comes in 3 different sizes: 15ml for £5, 50ml for £16, and 200ml for £35. The cleanser is fragrance-free and supports a healthy skin barrier.

Why I love it

This cleanser feels like you’re applying a moisturiser. It’s hydrating, softening, and leaves skin silky smooth. This never leaves my skin tight, stripped, or dry after use. It’s gentle and leaves no greasy residue behind. I particularly love how lightweight this cleanser is. While I love a thick cleansing balm, in the warmer summer months, sometimes the last thing I want to do is slather a rich balm all over my already-warm skin.

I use this as a first cleanse in the evening, as it does a great job at removing makeup, SPF, oil, and dirt from my skin. I follow up with a gel cleanser, and the result is fresh, clean, hydrated, and radiant skin.

MIE Skincare Tri-Active Hyaluronic Serum

The MIE Skincare Tri-Active Hyaluronic Serum is designed for all skin types and works to hydrate, smooth, and plump the skin. This luxurious formula targets dehydration, uneven skin tone and texture, and fine lines. The result is bright, nourished, smooth, and soft skin.

It’s formulated with:

• Hydrolysed hyaluronic acid: a form of hyaluronic acid that provides increased hydration in the skin’s surface layers
• Sodium hyaluronate: a form of hyaluronic acid that skin more readily absorbs and is an excellent skin-replenishing agent
• Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer: a form of hyaluronic acid that facilitates enhanced hydration
• Glycerin: hydrates skin
• Panthenol: hydrates and soothes skin

This hyaluronic acid serum costs £47.50 for 30ml.

Why I love it

While this hyaluronic acid serum is a bit pricier, it’s one of the best I’ve tried. The formula literally melts into your skin and feels so smoothing and soft. It’s lightweight, absorbs instantly, and doesn’t pill.

But most importantly, this delivers serious hydration. It makes my skin ultra-moisturised all day and gives it a visibly plumper, smoother, and dewier appearance. The trio of hyaluronic acid derivatives work wonders on my skin. I love it.

SOS SPF 50

The SOS SPF 50 is a broad-spectrum mineral-based sunscreen that protects against UVA and UVB rays. This fragrance-free SPF is non-greasy, leaves no white cast, and is invisible once applied. This sunscreen also slows down the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

It features:

• Titanium dioxide: a mineral-based sunscreen ingredient that protects against both UVA and UVB rays and is great for sensitive skin
• Zinc oxide: a gentle and non-irritating mineral-based sunscreen ingredient that protects against both UVA and UVB rays
• Hyaluronic acid: hydrates the skin
• Vitamin E: protects and defends skin against pollution and other pro-ageing environmental stressors
• Citric acid: an AHA that exfoliates the skin

There are 4 sizes available: 15ml for £5.50, 50ml for £17, 100ml for £28, and 200ml for £38. The sunscreen is also hydrating, calming, and suitable for sensitive skin.

Why I love it

Mineral sunscreens have a bit of a bad reputation for being thick, greasy, heavy, and leaving a white cast. This SPF 50 doesn’t do any of these things and is surprisingly lightweight. Once applied, you can’t tell you’re wearing any sunscreen except for the nice glow it leaves behind. I also find this formula hydrating and soothing.

I’ll be honest, this SPF can pill. I work around this by applying fewer skincare products beforehand. As the sunscreen is moisturising, I can get away with applying less moisturiser, for example. Also, I apply this SPF in small amounts, wait for that layer to absorb, and then go in with another layer to reduce any pilling. When I do this, I have no issues with pilling.

Honestly, while this may seem a bit fussy compared to chemical SPFs, the result is fantastic, and mineral formulas are typically gentler and kinder to the skin than chemical ones, so it’s definitely worth it.

Active Drip Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Moisturising and Antioxidant Cream

The Active Drip Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Moisturising and Antioxidant Cream is vegan, cruelty-free, fragrance-free, and suitable for all skin types. It has a gorgeous gel-cream texture that’s refreshing, cooling, absorbent, lightweight, and hydrating. This moisturiser nourishes, brightens, smooths, and softens skin, while reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving uneven skin tone and texture, and supporting a healthy skin barrier.

It’s enriched with:

• Vitamin C: helps to protect the skin from free radicals, environmental damage, and oxidative stress
• Sodium hyaluronate: hydrates and replenishes the skin
• Propanediol: makes skin look glowy
• Glycerin: hydrates the skin
• Citric acid: exfoliates the skin
• Caprylic/capric triglyceride: helps skin resist moisture loss

This costs £30.49 for 50ml.

Why I love it

Gel-cream moisturisers are my favourite as they strike the right balance between being lightweight and refreshing while still delivering long-lasting hydration. This luxurious moisturiser ticks those boxes and more. It makes my skin look particularly dewy and bright, so it’s great alone or as part of skincare prep before makeup application. This is one of my favourite moisturisers at the moment, and I find myself reaching for it frequently.

1. Redken Volume Injection Shampoo

£21.75 for 300ml

The Redken Volume Injection Shampoo is designed to cleanse and volumise fine, flat hair to give it visible body, fullness, and improved texture. It claims to leave hair silky soft and shiny.

This shampoo has a sweet and fresh scent. I can’t pinpoint an exact fragrance note, but it smells nice.

In terms of texture, the shampoo is quite thick and creamy. A bit of product goes a long way, and it works into a creamy, non-stripping lather. I use a 50p coin-sized amount, and this provides ample coverage for my entire scalp. The product rinses away easily and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.

This shampoo gives my hair noticeable volume, more body, and doesn’t make my hair feel as slippery. Instead, my hair has more grip and fullness, which prevents it from going greasy as quickly. It also makes my hair easier to style. The shampoo is fairly hydrating and gentle.

Before using this shampoo, I had to wash my hair every 2 days, as it became oily quickly. Now, I can get away with leaving my hair for 3-4 days before needing to wash it again. Sure, I may need a touch of dry shampoo in between washes to keep my hair looking fresh, but this shampoo means my hair doesn’t get oily anywhere near as quickly.

Rating: 5 stars

This is easily one of the best volumising shampoos I’ve tried.

2. Redken Volume Injection Conditioner 

£23.85 for 300ml

The Redken Volume Injection Conditioner is designed to volumise fine, flat hair. It claims to be weightless while effortlessly detangling hair, leaving it manageable, silky soft, and with a mirror-like shine.

The conditioner has the same sweet, fresh scent as the shampoo. Although once the shampoo and conditioner are rinsed out of your hair, the fragrance disappears.

This is a thick and creamy conditioner. A little bit of product goes a long way. Again, a 50p coin-sized amount is enough to coat the ends of my hair. The conditioner washes out easily with no greasy residue.

I rarely condition my scalp as it tends to get way too greasy. But actually, I can get away with using this conditioner on my scalp, as it’s incredibly lightweight and doesn’t weigh my hair down. So if my scalp ever needs a bit of TLC, I’ll happily apply this conditioner.

This conditioner gives my hair volume, leaves it soft and shiny, and hydrates it. While it’s not the most nourishing conditioner I’ve tried, my oily scalp and sleek hair texture mean I don’t want an ultra-hydrating formula. It’s just too heavy for my fine hair otherwise. But this conditioner gives my strands ample moisture while retaining their silky nature. I agree that this conditioner leaves my hair in a manageable condition with no tangles.

On mid-length hair, I love a loose, bouncy curl. It looks chic and gives hair volume, but it’s not too tight, where you end up losing a lot of the length.

But I’ve never been great at curling my hair. Quite frankly, I can’t always be bothered with the effort of curling my hair, especially as I’m not fast at doing it. I’ve never been able to curl my hair using straighteners, and I’ve only ever had success with a wand to curl my hair, but it takes me quite a while to do it.

The TYMO CurlGo is a portable hair curler that promises effortless loose curls in as little as 10 minutes.

About the TYMO CurlGo

The TYMO CurlGo is a portable hair curler that delivers effortless loose curls. The device automatically curls hair with its clever rotating barrel, meaning the curler does the hard work for you. Silky, shiny curls can be created in as little as 10 minutes. According to TYMO, the curls are long-lasting, staying in place for up to 1 week.

The curler has 3 different temperature settings: 210°C (410°F), 185°C (365°F), and 160°C (320°F). The TYMO CurlGo heats up in under a minute. It also has an 8-second automatic timer that beeps to indicate when you can take your hair out of the barrel, but you can leave hair in for 3-5 seconds longer if needed.

This curler comes with an anti-scald design for safe styling, as the outer parts of the device do not get hot. As the hair rotates in the barrel, there is an anti-tangle feature. If hair becomes stuck in the barrel, the device stops rotating, allowing you to safely and easily unravel hair from the barrel.

There’s a safety lock on the back of the device that prevents you from accidentally turning on the device when taking it on the go. You can only power on the device when it’s unlocked. The device automatically switches off after 10 minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life.

The cordless version of the TYMO CurlGo can be used cordless or corded. If using cordless, it takes around 2 hours to fully charge. According to TYMO, you can use the device around 4 times before it needs to be charged again. For optimal battery lifespan, TYMO advises performing a full charge at least once every 3 months.

How to use the TYMO CurlGo

Using the TYMO CurlGo is straightforward. Simply follow the steps below:

1. Wash and thoroughly dry hair. Ensure all strands are detangled.
2. Unlock the device, and press the power button for 2 seconds to switch it on.
3. Briefly press the power button to adjust the temperature. The temperature is indicated on the front of the curler.
4. Select the desired rotation direction via the arrow button on the curler (left or right).
5. Hold the curler vertically with the slot facing away from the face.
6. Insert a 1-inch section of hair into the slot.
7. Press the rotate button to wrap hair. Wait for it to automatically stop, or press again to stop/start rotation.
8. After the rotation stops, wait 8 seconds for the beep, and gently release the curl downward. You can leave hair in for 3-5 seconds longer after the beep if desired.

Honest TYMO CurlGo review

Below, I share my honest experience and review of using the TYMO CurlGo, including the look of the packaging, ease of use, how the curls turned out, and how long the curls lasted.

Packaging and device appearance

I love the baby pink curler. It’s so cute and girly. The device looks pretty and sleek.

This curler comes with easy-to-read instructions. The manual isn’t unnecessarily lengthy, and you can learn about the device and how to use it quickly. There’s also a quick-start guide on how to curl your hair, which is handy.

Charging

The device charged quickly. Honestly, I’m not exactly sure how long it took to charge, as I wasn’t in the room while it charged, but it was certainly within about 4 hours. While it’s charging, the device emits a flashing white light. Once it’s fully charged, the white light remains on.

Handily, the device also has a built-in light to indicate battery life. When you’re using the device cordless, the light indicator stays blue when the battery isn’t low. When the battery life is between 5%-10%, the light turns orange. At below 5% charge, the indicator light flashes orange.

The TYMO CurlGo curled my hair without the battery life draining to 10% or under.

How easy the device is to use on mid-length straight hair

I set the temperature to 185°C. Beyond the 8-second automatic timer, I left my hair in the curler for about an extra 3 seconds, as my mid-length hair is straight and sleek. It took me around 50 minutes to curl my entire hair.

I found the device easy to use and think it’s beginner-friendly. Putting my hair into the barrel took a bit of getting used to, as doing it in the mirror when you have poor hand-eye coordination isn’t the easiest! However, once I’d got the hang of this, it was straightforward.

The only part of my hair I struggled to curl was the back and the shortest parts of my hair – the underneath strands. My strands aren’t long enough for me to pull around to the side to see to curl them, so I got McKenzie to finish those bits for me. That’s the only downside of using the TYMO CurlGo; you’ll likely need an extra pair of hands just to finish the parts of your hair you can’t see if you’ve got short- or mid-length hair.

The curler is lightweight, which makes it perfect for travelling. It also means you don’t get arm ache when you’re curling your hair! Another massive bonus.

Now I’ve got used to the curler, I think I could curl my hair in around 30 minutes. I doubt I could meet the 10-minute claim from TYMO, as my hair is so straight that it needs that extra bit of time in the barrel. However, at the hottest temperature, being more familiar with the device, and taking slightly larger sections of hair, I think I could bring the time down.

I love how the curls turned out! They’re loose, bouncy, and soft, which is a versatile and classy look. These loose curls would look great for pretty much any occasion, but especially for weddings, evenings out, or more formal occasions for an elegant finish.

I brushed the curls gently once I’d finished curling my hair for a softer look. But I think I’d skip this another time for a more defined – but still loose – curl.

How long the curls lasted

My hair is notorious for not taking to waves or curlers particularly well. And when devices curl or wave my hair well, the effect usually doesn’t last long.

The curls dropped even within an hour of me doing them. I think the nature of a looser curl meant that it was more prone to dropping. After 5 hours, the curls had dropped massively, with only a very slight wave left in my hair and no sign of a curl pattern.

I wish the curls lasted longer. At the hottest temperature and maybe leaving the curls in the barrel for an additional 2 seconds, I think my curls would’ve had more longevity. Even then, I’m not convinced they’d last all day. They certainly wouldn’t last for a week!

Overall, I’m very impressed with the TYMO CurlGo. The device worked well on my mid-length hair, was easy to use, delivered a gorgeous loose curl, and is convenient for travelling. I wish the curls lasted longer, and I found the TYMO Rovy Compact easier to use, but I’m still happy with the finished result.

This curler is worth £76.94, and I’m excited to try it again and perfect using it.
