I’m really excited to share this week’s post from the beautiful Jessica over at her site All for Myself. She talks about the makeup products she uses to get a glowing complexion that looks healthy, natural and can be done in under 10 minutes.

I love that a glowy complexion post can appear on my blog because my oily skin prevents me from using dewy products else I can look super greasy. But, glowing complexions are stunning and the tips and products Jessica have shared in this post are awesome.

I‘d like to say a huge thank you to Jessica for taking the time out to write this post for my blog. I know how long it can take to put blog posts together, so I’m always very grateful to receive guest posts.

I’ve linked Jessica’s blog and social media channels at the bottom of this post, so please show some support and give her a follow.

Other than that, I hope you enjoy this post and may you all glow!

About All for Myself – from Jessica herself

“I have truly lived. I’ve had good times and bad times. I’m a mother, a daughter, a sister, a psych nurse and a soon to be wife. I love writing about my passions, what interests me, what interests others, and sharing all of my thoughts with my readers. I want everyone to have the chance to live their happiest life.

“This blog is truly my own little passion project, gaining more and more traction each day.”

I’m a huge fan of Korean Beauty routines, skincare and makeup. I have never been one to always rock a full face of makeup, but I do want to look awake and healthy.

As a young girl, when I first started experimenting with makeup, I found it difficult to attain the looks in the magazines and on TV. Additionally, I was more concerned with sleeping in than doing my makeup in the morning.

Over the years, I’ve kept that same mind frame in regards to my makeup routine and look. My motto: keep it simple, keep it easy and glow!

It wasn’t until recently that I really honed my makeup look. I’ve gone through many phases, from the “cholla” look to the “pin-up” look and everything in between so long as it didn’t take much time. For a few years, I didn’t even wear makeup as I thought my skin was too horrendous to bare makeup for fear it would make my acne worse.

What finally stuck is what I like to call the “healthy” look. I have found that brands with more natural ingredients and Korean cosmetics can do wonders for your skin and your appearance… not to mention most of these products are relatively inexpensive.

Here’s a look at some of my favourite go-to products that have made my skin glow!

Beauty Shot Face Blur

(Currently £7.55 on Amazon)

After completing my Korean skincare routine, I will use this as a foundation itself. It’s a lightweight cream that provides a blurring effect to refine and smooth skin.

Additionally, it helps to minimise my pores and brightens my complexion without looking obvious. I have received more compliments wearing this product than I have with any other product I owne.

Laneige BB Cushion

(Currently £23.48 on Amazon)

If I do ever need additional coverage or if I’m completely out of Face Blur, this is my next go-to. This helps me obtain a polished and more “matte” look.

Because I am more of a healthy glow kind of girl, I only opt for this when I’m not in the mood to “glow.” I have noticed that if you attempt to add any loose powder on top of this, it does not bode well.

I love that cushion vs. using a brush or my fingers as a little dab will do you. It’s easy to apply and the texture is very lightweight. There are many knock-offs, but I would opt for the real thing.

Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Sheer Tinted Eye Roller

(Currently £9.70 on Amazon)

This is a must for me as it makes me look more awake, especially right before going to work. It effectively hides my under eye circles and adds some volume.

I am a night shift psych nurse so I don’t get much sleep to begin with, not to mention I have an 8-month-old! This makes my face appear like I almost got a full night of sleep.

I use it in a triangle pattern underneath my eyes, then spread it using a foundation brush to ensure the coverage goes exactly where I need it to.

Unicorn Oil in Moon Beam

(Currently $3.29/£2.59 on Amazon – for us guys in the UK, I’m not sure where you can purchase this from)

Now, this product doesn’t have awesome reviews online, but I find that if you use it right, it can make your skin pop! I’ve also used other illuminators and highlighters and I haven’t run into one that I don’t like.

The key to using these oils or serums is to use it on bare skin or to layer on after you apply your foundation in very specific zones. I use this on the following areas in minute amounts, then dab and sweep to create a more natural “glow.”

Be careful not to overdo it… you could end up looking like a futuristic mannequin!

Ulta Dewy Makeup Setting Spray

(Currently $10.00/£7.88 on Ulta.com – Ulta is an American brand, so I’m not sure what your alternatives are in the UK, peeps)

This adds the finishing touch on my “healthy” look. This helps your makeup last longer and creates a dewy appearance. I use it over makeup to keep a fresh look all day.

It’s filled with all kinds of goodies like anti-ageing peptides; vitamin b5 which is a humectant, emollient, and moisturiser that coats the surface of your skin; and hyaluronic acid to provide additional moisturising effects.

On a final note, I do use quite a bit of lip glosses and other lip products as I feel my lips are my best asset. If I don’t add some colour or shine to my lips, I definitely don’t look healthy, to say the least.

Here are a few of my faves:

COVERGIRL Outlast All-Day Moisturizing Lip Color – Good for long lasting coverage. You can even purchase additional gloss if needed.

Revlon Kiss Plumping Lip Creme – Feels good on your lips and makes them look super luscious.

Ulta Shiny Sheer Lip Gloss – Can wear over lipstick or by itself and it comes in tons of different shades.

So that’s it, folks! I just wanted to cover the basic foundation of a typical makeup day. Occasionally I’ll throw in some eye makeup, but I personally rub my eyes a lot, so it’s rare.

I find that using the items above I look alert, healthy and glowing so there is really no need to go that extra mile unless it’s called for. I can easily get this look in less than 10 minutes.
