Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Liner in Goldrush image
Urban Decay Razor Sharp Liquid Liner in Goldrush

In makeup, gold is definitely one of my favourite colours to use. I think it’s so pretty and makes any look glamorous, especially gold eyeshadow paired with red lipstick – a classic!

So, I decided to buy a gold eyeliner to get more creative and add drama and sparkle to some makeup looks.

This inspired me to create this post, where I show 3 different ways gold liner can be used.

The liner

The gold eyeliner I’m using is Urban Decay’s Razor Sharp eyeliner in Goldrush.

To me, this is a true gold: warm, yellow undertones and also with some glitter/sparkle in, which I’m in love with. It’s very easy to apply as the wand is thin and has a long handle, it dries quickly and lasts for ages.

A great eyeliner.

At £17.50, this is easy to get hold of, either from Urban Decay, John Lewis, or Debenham’s.

The Razor Sharp Liquid Liner also comes in some other really nice colours; Intergalatic and Snakebite are next on my list!

Look one

For this look, I chose to use soft, brown tones, so the strong gold stood out against it. Brown and gold go great together, especially if you use warm browns like I did in this look.

This makeup look would be nice for an evening meal or for cocktails with friends.

My favourite part of this look is the gold and black liners running next to each other. When I stood under my light, the gold liner really sparkled and it was so gorgeous.

My iPhone 7 camera doesn’t do the look justice and because I created it in the evening, I didn’t get natural daylight so the image isn’t as clear as it could be. Sorry about that! However, you can see the gold liner peeking through.

(Note to self: take photos while the sun is still out)

For the rest of my makeup, I used the following products:

  • Primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
  • Foundation: The Ordinary High Coverage Foundation in shade 1.2 YG
  • Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in shade Fair Neutral
  • Setting powder: RCMA No-Color Powder
  • Bronzer: Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel
  • Highlighter: Laura Geller Gilded Honey
  • Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate
  • Eyeshadow: Morphe 35R Ready, Set, Gold!

  • Mascara: Dior Diorshow Blackout
  • Lashes: Ardell Wispies
  • Lipstick: Huda Beauty Demi Matte in the shade Feminist
  • Setting spray: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Look two

In my second makeup look, I chose reddy, fiery tones to complement the warmth of the gold eyeliner.

This is one of my more creative looks and I’m really proud of it! ‘Look two’ is a very glamorous look and would be perfect for a party or night out.

I’d never used any sort of eyeliner in my crease before, so this was a first for me, but I’m happy with how it turned out.

I’m kind of annoyed that the pictures for ‘Look one’ didn’t turn out as well as this, but you can still tell the difference. But, go iPhone 7 for taking these shots!

  • Setting powder: RCMA No-Color Powder
  • Bronzer: Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel
  • Highlighter: Bobbi Brown Highlighting Powder Bronze Glow
  • Eyebrows: Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate

  • Lipstick: Maybelline Colorsensational in Honey Beige 728
  • Setting spray: Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Look three

For my final creation, I chose warm tones like in ‘Look two,’ but instead of putting gold liner on my lids, I chose to incorporate it into my lower lashline (liner doesn’t just have to go on top!)

I think this look is somewhere in between ‘Look one’ and ‘Look two’ in terms of glamour. It would look good for an evening meal but also would look great for a night out or party, perhaps paired with a stronger lip colour like red.

This was also the first time that I used Tarte’s Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette and it was incredible. So easy to blend and build upon and the pigment is great.

In person, the colour on the lids is a bit redder than how it looks in this photo and it’s so pretty. I like the gold underneath because it adds a bit of sparkle and a pop of colour.

Final thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed creating these makeup looks with the gold liner. It’s something I’d not done before and it allowed me to get creative and play around with different looks and colours.

Personally, I really like Urban Decay’s gold eyeliner, I think it’s a lovely colour and has really added something glamorous and pretty to all three of the makeup looks.
